Somehow Maloney's Tavern manages to maintain a low-key vibe while sandwiched between Gaslamp's hyper-hip clubs. There's no dress code and a $5 cover, which is pennies in this San Diego neighborhood. On the contrast, the line outside is not low-key, but once you descend into the basement-level Irish bar, all is forgiven.

If you find conversation is being dominated by Bon Jovi blasting on the sound-system, there's plenty of celebrity photos, sports memorabilia, and movie quotes plastered on the walls to keep you entertained. Visit the bar during happy hour from 4-7pm daily for discounted drinks and grub.

This is a great Irish bar nestled in Gaslamp. It's great to come in during happy hour for cheap drinks. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the food, they have some really great munchies and of course the appletinis are amazing. It's a really great ambiance here with the all the movie and sports memorabilia plastered on the walls and the pool tables always keep you entertained.

 You're guaranteed great fun and drinks at Maloney's!
