Editorial Review:
Jade Theater and its three-story edifice of social revelry and undeniable energy is in a category all its own. Different not only in concept and design, but in location and atmosphere, Jade Theater is a progressive Asian restaurant, lounge, and "ultralounge," stationed at 7th & C in what can only be referred to as San Diego's Financial District. With over 14,000 square feet of space (and its own parking lot), this three-story establishment brings a new sophistication to downtown with a sharp, authentic Asian edge. Conceived by Japanese-born architect, Takumi Zing, in collaboration with OCIO Design Group, it's obvious Director of Operations, Keoni Barcarse, has refused to settle for anything less than the best.
Insider Tip: Check out Jade Theater for happy hour and stay late for the always-upbeat parties on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

Great food, terrible service!

I went to the Jade Theatre after wanting to check it out for some time. The decor and ambiance was great with a modern and simple twist. The food was phenominal, I mean some of the best culinary dishes I have ever had to date. We shared 3 appetizers and 3 main dishes. I would have to say that the appetizers were a great way to go if you are looking for food with great flavor. The crowd was a bit younger and very good looking and eclectic. The service however was god aweful. We waited 20 minutes for the server to bring our drinks, he also never filled up our waters. After bringing the wrong order out, he finally got it right. After dinner we went to the lounge on the 2nd floor and had a couple drinks. The dj was spinning some contemporary coffee shop electronic gayness that is not to my liking. However there was a good mix of good looking females and they were very laid back and lively. Downstairs was also pretty cool. The doormen were complete douchebags and wannabe tough guys, but I would recommend this place to someone who wants to take home some strange ass.

Jade Theater

This place seemed to have it all. I had blast due to the good service, food, and atmosphere. Everything was on point from the DJ to the servers. I liked this place because it was so large unlike many of the cramped over-filled clubs i was used to going to. I was able to breathe for once. My friends and I went to enjoy some dinner and ended up staying into the night. We loved the edgy Asian inspired atmosphere and layout it definitely set the mood.

never again

This new restaurant in San Diego should have waited another year to open - maybe then they would be able to hire a waiter that can make a cocktail and a server that can process an order. Other than the terrible service - the food was worse than any supermarket deli section! Now for the finale, the crowd... a bunch of pimply asians. One of whom approached me and said wow 'you are beautiful and this is probably you first and last time here judging by your expression.'

Can't say I agree. The night I went it was a little man-diego but the food was ridiculously good. I mean it was super solid. There were some smoking hot chicks here and there which is always nice and the staff - though a little uncoordinated - were friendly and fun.

Lame Leaky Basement

First Off, you better fake an accent if you want to get in. The only people getting past the rude doormen were Euro Trash. I actually saw a pregnant Euro Trash get in before some hot blondes did. Once inside, the main bar is nice looking but lacks atmosphere and a DJ. The bar was also permeated by a foul odor. Most of the people in this room looked like they were waiting for something to happen or were looking for the way out. Downstairs in a dirty unimpressive basement, where most of the people were hanging out, the ceiling was leaking in several areas including the "VIP" section. The leaks were actually streams of water pouring down. The dance floor is also located in the basement, but the DJ is playing tired tunes. I would definitely recommend skipping this place.

One of the new best places downtown to dine

I have been in the restaurant and hotel resort industry for over 13 years. These guys did a class act from opening the door till we left. The server was friendly, timely, and educated about the entire Jade Theater. The food runner was VERY knowledgable about what was being placed in front of us and if we asked someone for something it was communicated well amongst staff and answered again or presented in a polite timely matter. Our busser also was really on it though it was slow to start when we came in for dinner intresting to test out all three of these services when they are busy which hopefully will be soon. While I was impressed with the service and decor, my girlfriend's culinary taste buds as well as mine were deilightedley treated to one of the better dinners in along time. I read a review on here about someone complaining about the food. Who ever they are they're an idiot. Everything was cooked perfectly and with flavor. We even found hidden treasures in some plates that again impressed us with the attention to detail and no sacrifice of covering the most snobby palates of that of I and my girlfriend's. Only thing I did not care for was the Lobster salad on the Lobster trio second course. That can easily be re-vamped and 1 (the other 2 trio offerings were splended so don't hesitate to order this) outa 7 dishes including 3 appetizers 2 second courses and 2 main courses aint bad! One insider note. I think the waiter was not aware of but we found it cute that in our bottled water service the waiter poured our water in glasses with ice. This wouldn't be bad if our ice was also Evian lol. No big deal. We will certainly be back for the food ,service ,and atmosphere. This place deserves to catch on fire and the chef to be commended. Market is now my girlfriends second favorite new San Diego restaurant.

Enlighten the Senses

Impeccable is the best word to describe this chic new establishment. The food will tantalize your palate and compel you to take a culinary journey. For those that demand the best this is your new hangout. Menu is pricey but as they say you pay for what you get rings true. It's hard to go wrong here as it is hands down the best new destination experience in San Diego.

Jade Theater Night Club

I'm jealous... got back a little too late from Las Vegas to attend but was really looking forward to checking Jade out. I've heard a lot of great things for how recently anyone has seen the venue!

Bound to become San Diego's premier hotspot

I was one of the lucky people privy to attend Jade Theater's Soft Opening. My first impressions were quite good. The staff did an excellent job of catering to my every need, want, and desire. On top of this, good music and an atmosphere that obviously had some thought put into it top off this restaurant, bar, and lounge and make it creme de la creme. The kitchen staff is VERY professional and the food was palatable.
