Editorial Review of Jack's La Jolla

Jack’s La Jolla, the labyrinthine restaurant of endless nooks and graceful levels, is also one of the community’s favorite locations to spend a lively evening, offering several singular nocturnal experiences. The Beach Bar, open on weekends until 2am, showcases steel drum music to energize the merrymaking. The mid-level Wall Street Bar also features live music by night in a fine-dining environment. The Wine Bar Lounge at Jack’s Grille, though soothingly furnished with cool-toned tile and a radiant central fireplace, is an animated each night with live entertainment in its piano bar. The last Wednesday of each month, it hosts an exclusive singles night, attracting the beach region’s most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes.

Added 06/25/09 Bad Rissoto

I previewed the menu before going to Jack's and was excited to see mushroom and truffle rissoto on the menu. It was horrible, very sticky. I asked for another order and was told they make it in the morning and the next order would be the same. Chef Ramsey would be horrified. The rest of our order was okay, nothing great. After talking to the locals, they all said they would not recommend Jack's.

Added 02/26/09 Romantic dinner in the heart of downtown La Jolla

Over the weekend, my husband treated me to a wonderful night out in downtown La Jolla. He took my to Jack's and we dined in the Marine Room. The interior was chic and the dim-lighting really set the mood. The service was superb and I loved the roomy sofa-like seating complete with pillows! We ordered the calamari which was amazing and unique from the typical calamari from other restaurants. Everything on the dessert menu was tempting, but we opted for Italian bread pudding which was served warm, and was very delicious.

Added 07/23/07 Jack's La Jolla - Fine Dining

Although I am not a usual purveyor of dining in downtown La Jolla, I must admit that Jack's is a great place when to eat when you have the money to spend. I only dined on the lower level, but I visited the two floors above. Overall, the service and ambiance is great. They also do not mind if you are not totally dressed up.
