Editorial Review of
Bar Ninety
Bar Ninety looks and feels the same as any Gaslamp ultra lounge, yet lacks the trendy pretensions. The interior boasts an aesthetic appeal that was brought to life by locally-famed Davis Krumins, whose whimsical and eclectic interior designs can be found inside some of San Diego’s most gorgeous and renowned spaces – including Side Bar, Bar West, and Stingaree. Inside Bar Ninety, a collision between golden Far East artifacts and a hybrid of modern-rock’ n’ roll elements come together in a curiously-inspired visual experience. Eye-catching gold Japanese masks are set against lush brown fur along vintage trunk-like walls. Maintaining its neighborhood vibe by evening, Bar Ninety offers patrons a gracious happy hour from 8-10pm, nightly, to enjoy while watching the game on 10 mounted TVs. The happy hour menu features appropriately-priced drinks and bites (for namesake), including $2.90 Stella Drafts, $3.90 Wells, and $4.90 appetizers – ranging from your typical bar fare to the tantalizing Ahi Salad, served with a ginger vinaigrette. By night, Bar Ninety hosts live musical performances where DJs spin a variety of genres from a decorative nook slightly above the dance floor.
