Editorial Review of 710 Beach Club

Formerly known as Blind Melons, the 710 Beach Club in Pacific Beach is the epitome of San Diego beach culture with its laid-back atmosphere and beach-side location. 710 is ready to help you chill out with more than its location; 710 hosts live music every weekend ranging from reggae to rock. If you feel a bar needs more than music and drinks to keep you entertained, get your game on every Tuesday for their specialty game night that features classic gaming such as chess and battleship. And when you've had your fill of all the 710 Beach Club has to offer, take a quick step outside for a stroll on PB's infamous Crystal Pier that is only a few steps away.

Added 12/18/07 710 Club at PB

I checked out my friend's band at this venue once. The 710 serves as a nice intimate venue for checking out local music, but to just hang and drink with your buddies, you might want to try elsewhere.

Added 09/06/07 710 Club was better off as Blind Melons

So, the powers that be decided to revamp what was once Blind Melons (a fun, local music venue), and turn it into the 710 Club. The location still caters to local music, and ticket prices are reasonable, however, drink prices seemed to go through the roof. And for whatever reason, the relatively-new 710 Club also plays host to fewer big bands than the now-defunct Blind Melons once did. So, expensive drinks plus few popular bands equals a ho-hum time at best.
