This Saturday, May 17, the heart of North Park will brighten with music, art and beer at the 18th annual North Park Festival of Arts. This free event begins at 11 a.m. and rolls through the day ‘til 6 p.m., taking over the section of University Ave. from 30th to 32nd.
The big buzz on the streets this year is the return of the North Park Craft Beer Block, where the 21-and-up crowd can sip 13 four-ounce tasters from over 30 local craft brewers. Beers featured include Ballast Point, Stone Brewing Co., Mike Hess, Green Flash, Thorn St. Brewery, Pizza Port Brewing Co., Societe and more presented by Waypoint Public and FM 94/9. VIP holders will have early access (at 11 a.m.), plus receive a $10 Uber card and bag of goodies. General admission starts at noon and includes music from 94/9 along with karaoke. Tickets are $35; VIP are $55, available online here.
Beyond the beer, the festival centers around a juried arts section with over 40 competing artists, the San Diego North Park Craft Mafia takeover and a Kid’s Art Block. Live music and dance performances will also fill the streets.
