Discover, savor and indulge in some of the finest food on the West Coast at the 21st annual Taste of Gaslamp.
The event is sponsored by Samuel Adams and will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, in the Gaslamp Quarter.
The annual Taste of Gaslamp – San Diego’s original urban culinary walking tour – allows participants to visit dozens of eateries and sample some of the most exquisite fare around. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Gaslamp Quarter’s historic buildings and pedestrian-friendly neighborhood, this self-guided restaurant walkabout promises a veritable feast of diverse cuisines.
Thirty Gaslamp dining establishments will be featured during the event, with delicious samples of their house specialties available for sampling. Guests who are 21 or older also are invited to take a break from the food and enjoy the picturesque Beer Garden, presented by Samuel Adams, at Altitude Sky Lounge, located atop the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter at 660 K St.
New to this year’s event is the availability of the Gaslamp Quarter’s most recently opened restaurants – some of which are offering gluten-free, soy-free and corn-free foods – including 2B by 2GOOD2B, Allure, Don Chido, Encore Champagne Bar & Dining Room, Kamikaze 7 Sushi Joint, Lucky Bastard Saloon, My Yogurt and Union Kitchen & Tap. They join the Gaslamp Quarter’s veteran dining establishments, making it an event not to be missed.
On the day of the event, guests will check in at the Latitude Lounge in the lobby of the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter, where they will receive their recipe book, event passport and walking map that will help guide them during the walking tour.
In addition to the restaurants already mentioned, this year’s tour also includes: Bandar, barleymash, Blue Point Coastal Cuisine, Cafe Sevilla, Ciro’s Pizzeria & Beerhouse, Dick’s Last Resort, Hard Rock Cafe, Henry’s Pub, La Fiesta, La Puerta, Lou & Mickey’s, Maryjane’s, Meze Greek Fusion, Nobu, Pinzimini, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza, Soleil @k, Spike Africa’s Fresh Fish Grill & Bar, The Commons Bar, The Field, The Melting Pot, Werewolf and Whiskey Girl.
Proceeds from the Taste of Gaslamp will go toward the Gaslamp Quarter Association’s ongoing promotional programs and efforts to enhance and protect this national historic district. Representing more than 400 businesses located in the heart of downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter Association is the nonprofit merchants association of the Gaslamp Quarter and is partially funded by the city of San Diego’s Small Business Enhancement Program.
Admission is $30 per person in advance or $40 on the day of the event. It includes tastings at all participating restaurants and the Beer Garden presented by Samuel Adams. A copy of the "Taste of Gaslamp Chefs’ Secrets" recipe book also is included in the admission price.
Tickets in advance may be purchased online only at gaslamp.org
