Boo: Monster Bash Haunts the Gaslamp

Welcome back to the time of year when goblins and witches are matched by barely-clothed guys and gals. The 13 Annual Dos Equis XX Monster Bash Block Party makes its ghoulish return, howling through our downtown quarters on Saturday, October 26th.

San Diego’s biggest Halloween block party is calling the bizarre, the wacky, the scantily clad and the creative to bring their spirit to the streets from 6 p.m. to midnight. If you remember, or barely remember past years, Monster Bash overflows our usual downtown bubble with the spectacular and spooky emerging from all corners of San Diego. Enter through the Gates of Hell at 7th Avenue and Market Street and then take your party through Island, 7th and 8th Avenues.

Three mega-clubs will mesmerize the masses this year, with new levels of debauchery and scandal in a Halloween hotbed. First, stop through the Birds of Prey club, as a bird invasion creates a spine-tingling experience down 7th Avenue. DJ Dynamix and Kids at the Bar will bring the beats while black-feathered dancers seduce and prey upon the crowds. If you hear shrilling shrieks, you’re getting close to the second club located on Island Ave., the Gaslamp Asylum. Here, deranged doctors and nurses will perform a real-life horror film unfolding before your eyes. And finally, for a tamer tease, head to the Dos Equis XX Masquerade club with a sea of seduction moving to the beats of Chris Cutz and DJ G*Roy.

Dress to Impress: Your costume could win $5,000 at the annual contest hosted by MC Mikey Beats. It’s the quickest way you’ll make that money all year, so get to work now on your rockin’ frock.
