The best-kept gift-giving secret? An experience trumps any wrapped-up item. Valentine’s Day stumps lovers all across the world each year, causing a widespread freak-out during the first week of February. And while it may feel like you’ve exhausted all gift ideas or just can’t dream up a perfect date for the season, San Diego has a new (and sweet smelling) option for lovers and single-minglers alike.
The new luxury parfumerie in La Jolla – Tijon – has been hosting handfuls of guests looking for their new signature scent and creating custom fragrances. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Tijon is introducing a special set of workshops based around the concept of natural “love potions”.
From February 9 through February 16, Tijon hosts 17 aphrodisiac-focused “make your own” perfume and cologne workshops. Learn the specific scents that appeal to potential mates, such as cinnamon, pumpkin pie and lavender. Find out how cucumber, anise and rose can arouse the senses of women. And get a better understanding about how jasmine is used for mood elevation in both men and women.
Of course, no romance-inspired workshop is complete without some chocolate bites and a bubbly champagne toast. Celebrate with your sweetheart or go for a girl’s day out, and take home a bottle of your very own fragrance (as well as a newfound hobby). The onsite laboratory has over 300 oils to engineer the perfect scent, and Tijon instructors enthusiastically teach the process. Sign up for your workshop at tijon.com
La Jolla is the first Tijon location in the U.S., and only the second in the world. The flagship Tijon store is in St. Martin in the Caribbean. 7852 Herschel Ave., La Jolla. Open Tuesday-Sunday from 10am to close and by appointment. 619.821.8219, tijon.com
