FLUXX Unveils New Summer Theme ‘Ritual’

FLUXX is a club of constant change, and we broke the news on the summer theme, coming June 15. Under the Ritual spell, FLUXX will be re-born as an exotic rainforest inhabited by a sub-culture of ‘natives’ -- a part played by the club’s dancers, bartenders and VIP servers. The theme will come to life through whimsical, inspired décor, from hand-dyed Bargello sidewall panels, to Navajo prints and dream catchers. Above the dance floor will be a ‘jungle bridge’ that hangs from the ceiling. Read the full story

Charger Girls Series: Meet Kara

This month, we launched a new profile series on the Charger Girls. Kara is a stand-out veteran returning to the squad for her second consecutive year. A long-time San Diegan, Kara grew up in Carlsbad and graduated from San Diego State University in 2010, where she studied public relations and marketing. Burlap Hosts MCA Commemorative Dinner

On May 4, the world lost a great musician. Adam Yauch, AKA MCA, was a rapper, film director and founder of the pioneering hip-hop group Beastie Boys. Brian Malarkey’s Burlap in Del Mar honored the death of MCA in a very cool foodie way. On Wednesday, May 16, Burlap’s chef Anthony Sinsay and Snake Oil Cocktail Co. hosted a commemorative four-course dinner inspired by the Beastie Boys. Read the full story

Herringbone: First Bite & Grand Opening Photos

The latest in fabric infused social dining from Brian Malarkey and James Brennan, Herringbone is now open. The U-T’s food reporter Keli Dailey filled us in on all the flavorful details of her first dining experience at the brand new La Jolla hot spot, from the Fanny Bay oysters to the "OMG" worthy hamachi and wood roasted pizza. And on Thursday, May 31, we attended the packed grand opening party, along with the who’s who of San Diego high society.
