If you start hearing an uproar of laughter coming from 6th Avenue between E and F Streets, do not walk away. No, nobody is laughing at you. Rather, they’d like for you to join them as San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter welcomes in a new and first of its kind stand-up comedy club, and it’s hilarious. The American Comedy Co. is lighting up the scene and bringing in A-list comedic performances with high-quality entertainment to our downtown digs.
The much-anticipated opening of San Diego's first A-Room comedy club welcomes audiences officially on March 1st. The American Comedy Co. is coming in hot with national headlining comedian Bobby Lee taking the stage for the first three nights. While you might recognize Lee as a regular on MADtv, he’s also a San Diego local continuing a long career of making the comedy rounds. Lee has performed stand-up on "Late Friday," "Premium Blend" and "The Tonight Show." In 2004, he appeared in the big screen comedy "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle," and in 2007 he appeared in "Kickin It Old Skool."
Following his lead, acclaimed comedian Christopher Titus will take the stage on Friday March 9th and Saturday, March 10th. Other top dogs expected to grace the American Comedy Co. stage include Tom Arnold, Doug Benson, Kevin Nealon, Harland Williams, Norm Macdonald, and Tom Green. While the comedy club aims to bring the best in the industry of nationally touring stand-up comedians, it simultaneously offers an intimate set-up for an up-close-and-personal proximity with the stars. The venue holds 200 seats in a speakeasy feel that adds restaurant and bar to the comedy line-up.
The American Comedy Co. will be open Tuesday through Sunday, with tickets priced from $15-$30. The venue is strictly 21 and up and will maintain a two-beverage minimum per person. Tickets for the upcoming shows are already going fast, so head to the online store and make your purchase at americancomedyco.com.
