The Spring 2012 Nordstrom Designer Preview transformed Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier into a high-fashion setting filled with pop-up boutiques, mini bars and a striking runway on Thursday, Feb. 23.
Starting at 6pm, 300 guests circled the pavilion, stopping to mix, mingle and admire the variety of shoes, handbags and jewelry on display amidst racks of designer clothing. The real highlight of the evening began at 7pm, when guests took their seats along the runway. Nordstrom styled the show into 13 scenes, featuring looks by Chanel, Burberry Prorsum, Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Marni, Naeem Khan, Dries Van Noten, Jason Wu, Donna Karan, Akris, Missoni and Oscar de la Renta, respectively.
A few of our top picks from the show include the Azure blue and rust printed trench coat by Burberry Prorsum; bright blue silk mesh dress with a lace front by Stella McCartney; white eyelet open-front blouse atop a white sheer slip and white flare pencil skirt by Givenchy; yellow beaded dress with draped top by Naeem Khan; ivory satin sculpted cocktail dress with black lace detail by Jason Wu; and, of course, the finale emerald floral broaderie anglais bodice ballgown with pickup balloon skirt by Oscar de la Renta.
Although fashion took center stage, fundraising is the true heart of the event. Nordstrom, with the help of stylish, giving San Diegans, raised $75,000 for Promises2Kids, a child abuse prevention foundation.
