Is it a “Hills” reunion this weekend in San Diego?
Both Brody Jenner and Audrina Patridge, stars of MTV’s popular reality TV series that rose to fame in 2006, are Gaslamp-bound to host big nightclub events. Jenner is celebrating his birthday Friday night at Stingaree, while Patridge is unveiling the new Pussycat Dolls club in town on Saturday night.
I chatted with Patridge to get the scoop on her San Diego visit. The 27-year-old starlet is getting ready to host the official grand opening party for the Pussycat Dolls Dollhouse, which is now open at the Keating Hotel.
And this club is the real deal, brought to town by the original pussycat Robin Antin. Patridge first met Antin when she hosted a party at the Pussycat Dolls club in Las Vegas. “I worked with Robin about five years ago in Vegas, during the ‘Hills’ era. She dressed me up and I was on stage introducing all the girls and talking with the audience,” Padridge said. “I see Robin in L.A. all the time now, and we’ve been wanting to work together again, so she thought of me for the San Diego opening party.”
But sorry boys and girls, Patridge won’t be performing a burlesque routine on Saturday night. “I’m a huge fan of the Pussycat Dolls, so when Robin asked me, I was like -- umm, obviously I’ll be there! I won’t be dressed up this time, though. I’m hosting the party and will be on stage announcing all the gorgeous dancers. I really hope everyone comes out to see the new club!”
Confession: It’s not actually a reunion of “The Hills” this weekend, and Patridge didn’t even know her former co-star Jenner was also heading to San Diego. I asked her if the old crew still hangs out together: “Hmm, when was the last time I saw Brody? We don’t hang out that often, but it doesn’t mean that we’re not friends,” Patridge explained. “I just haven’t seen everyone in so long. I took a year off to travel. I needed a break from the whole scene in Hollywood. Last year I traveled to Australia, London -- everywhere.”
But don’t think that Patridge is done with the industry for good. The actress, model and TV personality who has worked with big brands like Bongo, Curve Appeal, Carl’s Jr. (remember the hot commercial?), and made appearances in films Sorority Row and Into the Blue: The Reef as well as a season of "Dancing with the Stars" since her days with MTV, is now getting back into the swing of things. Although, she can’t leak the good news just yet. “I moved back into my L.A. house and I started going to auditions again. There is a lot of opportunity, and I hope to be able to tell you more by the end of the year! I’m focusing on acting, TV, and doing more commercial photo shoots with Curve Appeal. More to come in 2013.”
Patridge is heading to San Diego on Saturday, and plans to stay and explore the city on Sunday. “I haven’t been to San Diego in almost two years, and I’ve never been just for pleasure, it’s always been work related. I remember doing Comic-Con for Sorority Row,” said Patridge. “But this weekend, I’m going to stay Sunday to go to the beach and go shopping. I have so many friends who love spending time in San Diego.”
