FLUXX persistently brings the heat to the San Diego nightlife scene. From daring themes like Aquatic, celebrity hosts like the recent Ronnie Magro, and indie bands rocking out live on stage, it’s an ever-changing conglomeration of a club. Perhaps one of the more high-profile faces that FLUXX takes on, however, is the EDM series, pumping up beats from big-name electronic DJs on Thursday nights.
The electronic dance music nights at FLUXX are similar to the others in that they encourage crowds to get their best dance-moves on, but stand apart in their full-club super-bass transformation. The techno, house, trance, electro, hardstyle, breakbeat, drum and bass styles fill the super-club with overwhelming high energy.
Tim Ortiz, owner of Eventvibe.com, has been teaming up with FLUXX for over a year now to create and raise up the Thursday EDM nights. Ortiz utilizes FLUXX’s unique club layout to construct a successful show with top artist names coming through each month.
“FLUXX as a venue coupled with the world class DJs we bring to San Diego is the key difference to our EDM experience,” said Ortiz. “The sound and lighting are the best in San Diego, and maybe in all of California.”
The club’s unique build allows sound to travel clearly, from top to bottom. With crisp highs and deep lows, the subsonic pulse pushes the edge on the electronic nights. But the scene of course encompasses more than just music. “The full spectrum laser, huge LED wall and room filling Cryo blasts are more elements that make an Eventvibe FLUXX EDM show unquestionably the best time imaginable,” said Ortiz.
This fall, FLUXX is presenting a diverse and illustrious event line-up. On September 15th, EDM has announced headliners Manufactured Superstars, the duo with one distinctive way of expressing their energy through popular electro, progressive, house, pop music and more. Warning: spacesuits will be involved. There may even be a 6-foot tall teddy bear on stage. Things will get weird. On September 29th, EC Twins are back to the FLUXX dancing grounds, bringing their Scottish roots that invaded the US in 2005 to their large fan base right here in San Diego.
Dash Berlin will turn tables on October 6th and Morgan Page makes face at EDM on October 13th. Paul Oakendfold will kick it October 20th, and the much anticipated Sander Van Doorm heads to FLUXX on October 27th. “The crowd that comes to our EDM shows truly loves the music, which is apparent in the rooms explosive energy,” said Ortiz.
