The Local Buzz: San Diego Beer Weekend

If you’re a true craft beer connoisseur, you know that every week is technically beer week in San Diego. From local brew tents at music festivals to local taps pouring at top restaurants around town, and unique tasting events at the area’s finest breweries, no longer is it difficult to drink San Diego craft beer any time, any place. We locals may have a bit of a problem, but damn is it a great problem to have.

If your daily beer drinking habits aren’t quite satisfying your quench for local brew, don’t miss San Diego Beer Weekend, a summer event series created to preview the official Beer Week to come this fall. Beer Weekend is taking place June 10 – 12, offering a variety of beer-inspired events to showcase our city’s incredible flavor.

Those who joined me last year know that the can’t-miss event is Beer Hall, the weekend’s signature bash that is set to take over The Lodge at Torrey Pines on Friday, June 10. As the sun sets beyond the golf course and onto the Pacific ocean, guests will gather together to try original small plate tastings created on-site by eight allied San Diego chefs to be paired with your favorite local signature brews. You better arrive hungry, because this foodie event will showcase culinary creations from Chef Tyson Blake from O’Briens Pub paired with Green Flash Beer; Chef Kyle Bergman from The Grill at Torrey Pines paired with Alesmith Beer; Chef Nate Soroko from Toronado paired with Pizza Port/ Lost Abbey Beer; Chef Brandon Brooks from Ritual Tavern paired with Stone Brewing Co.; Chef Brian Hicks of Small Bar/ Hamilton’s Tavern paired with Lightning Brewery Beer; Chef Aaron La Monica from Blind Lady Alehouse paired with Coronado Brewing Co.; Churchills Pub and Grille paired with Karl Strauss Beer; and Guest Pastry Chef Barbara White of The High Dive paired with Ballast Point Beer.

Beer Hall takes place on Friday, June 10 at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, and tickets are $65 per person, with a portion of proceeds to benefit the San Diego Brewers Guild. For more information about additional San Diego Beer Week events, and to purchase tickets online, please visit sdbw.org.
