New Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas in Del Mar

Thrilling action, heartfelt romance, witty drama, hilarious comedy; going to the movies is an age old activity that continues to lure us back with new stories and advanced technology.

While I’ll never tire of watching the latest RomCom on the big screen while munching on Red Vines in a quirky old theatre, there are some elements of the movie-going experience that can use an upgrade. I could definitely live without long concession lines, dirty, uncomfortable seats, and the questionable lack of alcohol served on site. Is it wrong to want a Mimosa with my Jennifer Aniston flick?

If you too want more from your movie theatre, get ready to fall in love with Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas in Del Mar Highlands. The next generation of movie-going fun, Cinepolis offers a premium theatre experience enhanced with plush seating, high-tech digital equipment, personal servers, local craft beer and boutique wine, and a full menu of real food, in addition to all the popcorn and candy you can handle.

Part of the Del Mar Highland’s massive makeover, Cinepolis is the new face of the former Ultrastar Cinemas location, following a $5 million remodel, perched on the shopping center’s second story. Within Cinepolis are eight auditoriums with high-quality state of the art digital equipment, HD, 3D and surround sound technologies. Each auditorium seats up to 78 guests in custom designed, high-back, leather recliner chairs that offer seven-feet of personal space, as well as in-seat waiter service buttons for all your emergency beer and candy requests during the show. But the VIP perks start before you even enter the auditorium; the lobby’s touch-screen monitors enable you to preview movies, buy tickets and reserve special seats all at the touch of a finger.

Don’t worry; your favorite popcorn and Junior Mint concessions are still available, but now the Cinepolis menu will also offer a variety of real food items, such as gourmet finger-foods, artisan sandwiches, and cheese boards. Although you can order a Diet Coke, I bet you’ll choose to indulge in a San Diego craft beer or glass of wine instead. Why? Because you can, without having to sneak it in your purse. Of course, the alcoholic beverages are only available to movie-goers over the age of 21.

The new Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas in Del Mar opens July 2011, and will showcase new movie releases and blockbuster hits. Tickets range from $13.50 - $19.50 based on children, adults and matinee pricing. For more information, visit cinepolisUSA.com and delmarhighlandstowncenter.com.
