RAW has emerged on the scene as one of the hottest independent arts organizations, putting a spotlight on natural-born artists in genres including film, fashion, visual art, hair and make-up artistry, photography and performing arts. By providing local artists with necessary resources and positive exposure, RAW allows them to be heard and embraced within their community. If this sounds intriguing, then make sure to join RAW for their next event: the Holiday Rawk taking place Thursday, December 15th at 4th & B.
The show will kick off at 8pm and just as with any RAW event, there will be an explosion of talent including a film screening, fashion show, featured hair and make-up artist, live concert, performance art and pop-up art gallery. Goods will be available for purchase, creating a fun holiday shopping experience overflowing with local gift ideas. A cash-bar will be on the premises to ensure good times and cocktail attire is preferred.
This event will be your chance to hear the sounds of The Short Eyes, a rising DIRT pop band out of San Diego that is loved by many for their unique music (left). Misc. Ailments, a San Diego band with an eclectic yet pop sensible sound, will be performing at Holiday RAWk as well.
Graffiti artist Anthony Guzman (aka Nagual), known for his mix of acrylics and air-brushing, will be in the house along with Cory Witt, a young artist from Escondido. Other local featured artists are set to include Julia Gomez, Atom Nightmare, Stefanie Bales (below left), Jane Kim, Jimmie Ovadia (below right), Gregory Bada and Al Scholl.
Vintage photographer Stefanie Proteet will showcase her photos, along with the unexpected and realistic work of Michael RealPeople and the natural shots perfected by Cliff Endsley (above). Hair and make-up artists, Jules Marques and badri _kermani, as well as fashion icons in the making, Andre Soriano, Neoclassics and Sameerah, will rawk their looks.
