San Diego Wedding Hot Spots

Finding the right place for your engagement party, rehearsal dinner or reception is a bit like finding your soul mate. But it's a lot easier with the hot new venues that have just opened their doors. From downtown rooftops to a secluded valley, Exquisite Weddings Magazine has discovered a bevy of places - and you'll know when you've found The One.

Maderas Golf Club - Poway

Amid rocky outcroppings, meandering creeks and crashing waterfalls, Maderas Golf Club in Poway sits on rolling acres of lush greens and sweeping elevation changes, a dramatic backdrop for the new Del Lago Ballroom.

Walk past a Spanish-style fountain and through the arched wooden entrance. Find yourself in a travertine-tiled foyer that opens up into the grand high-ceiling ballroom, and let the expansive windows take your breath away. Wrought iron chandeliers and warm goldenrod walls make the ballroom grandiose and welcoming at the same time.

Ceremonies can take place outside on either the Del Lago Lawn and Garden or the Sunset Terrace. The expansive lawn just off the ballroom is backed by a panorama of emerald green fairways, canyons and a cascading waterfall flowing into a tranquil lake. 17750 Old Coach Road | 858.451.8100 |

Anthology - Little Italy

Located in the heart of San Diego's Little Italy, latest hotspot Anthology offers fine-tuned music and cuisine in a two-story, 13,000-square-foot restaurant and club. High ceilings, natural wood finishes combined with raw concrete walls and a state-of-the-art digital sound system create an acoustical and visual experience modeled after the supper clubs of the '30s and '40s.

Music selections include jazz, blues, classic rock, R&B;, and more. Culinary pairings are the collaborations of executive chef Jim Phillips and consulting chef Bradley Ogden. Guests can sip a glass of Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon in the VIP dining room or relax by the fireplace in the upper lounge "living room" as they experience an unforgettable celebration. 1337 India Street | 619.595.0300 |

The Witherby - Downtown

Named after Oliver S. Witherby, San Diego's first lawyer, this downtown loft space combines timeless tradition and elegance with a fresh, modern perspective. Ornate features of the original structure include vaulted 18-foot ceilings, arched floor to ceiling windows and exquisite crown molding, while modern twists are thrown in, such as the Plexiglass sconces on the walls.

For all its historical touches, The Witherby has been created as the perfect venue for weddings and receptions. Guests enter from Market Street and are welcomed by the lovingly restored hardwood staircase. At the top, a 20-foot cascading waterfall sets the stage for a grand entrance into the foyer, perfect for cocktails before the ceremony or reception. Two grand ballrooms with a full bar in the center can be combined for a lavish affair. 526 Market Street | 619.531.0005 |

The Ivy Hotel - Downtown

What better place to toast the happy couple than at the top of the world? On the rooftop of the Ivy Hotel, Eden is a bar, pool and lounge all in one. Guests walking out of the elevator into the expansive, open-air entertaining space can take in the San Diego skyline from the center of the Gaslamp Quarter, enjoy cocktails at the brilliantly lit bar or relax in a plush cabana.

An elegant rooftop reception can be followed by after-party dancing at Envy, the nightclub downstairs, where the glitterati gather and the Grey Goose flows. The modern décor and distinct VIP lounge areas create an upscale and indulgent party experience.

In addition to Eden, which has covered and uncovered spaces, the Ivy has a grand ballroom, two private dining rooms and a private lounge available for the ceremony or reception. 600 F Street | 619.814.1000 |
