Listing Details: The USS Midway Museum is a maritime museum located in downtown San Diego, CA at Navy Pier. The USS Midway aircraft carrier came to rest at Navy Pier in 2004, after her decommissioning, to serve as both a museum and memorial. Visitors may tour the ship's bridge, flight deck, hangar deck, mess deck, primary flight control, tactical flag command center, enlisted and junior officer's quarters, the captain's and admiral's quarters, sickbay, and an engine room. Several restored aircraft are on display on the hanger deck and on the flight deck. Self-guided audio tours are provided with admission, but visitors who just want to take in the breath-taking view of San Diego Harbor from the ships giant deck, do not need to pay admission to the museum to do so. Another landmark San Diego location. San Diego has some deep naval roots and the USS Midway Museum is the best way to familiarize yourself. Touring the ship and getting idea of the day-to-day tasks involve may actually help put in perspective how easy most of our lives really are.
