Listing Details: The San Diego Police Historical Association is a non-profit group of police officers and citizens dedicated to the preservation and display of the proud 160 year history of San Diego city law enforcement going back to the village law of Franciscan friar Junipero Serra shortly after the establishment of the first mission in 1769. Under Father Serra, village law enforcement entailed locking all unmarried citizens in barracks at night to avoid the temptation of sin. For troublemakers, flogging and time in the stockade was the standard punishment. The museum is open Wednesday thru Friday, 12 noon to 4 p.m., and on Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. For more information, visit www.sdpolicemuseum.com.
