- Listing Details: The Museum of the Living Artist is managed by the San Diego Art Institute and is located in Balboa Park. SDAI's most visible activity at the museum focuses on showcasing the work of San Diego emerging area visual artists through a program of over 30 juried shows a year including a show for youth. SDAI maintains a separate facility for education. Classes in life drawing, painting, water color, children's art, and various photography classes are a sampling of the SDAI art educational programs offered. SDAI's C-Note event is the most anticipated fundraiser held at the museum each year. C-Note consists of original artwork by SDAI members and emerging regional artists sold right off the walls. It gives new and experienced art collectors an opportunity to purchase original works at prices below the cost. The proceeds are split fifty-fifty: half to SDAI to support our programs and facility, and half to the artist for materials costs. The museum is open Tuesday thru Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday 12 noon to 4 p.m. For more information or admissions costs, go to www.sandiego-art.org.
