Top of the Hyatt may be the most well-known attraction at the hotel, but in recent years, the 3rd level outdoor terrace has been stealing the spotlight. During summer months, we fall in love with the swanky space known as KIN Lounge – an upscale hotspot made popular by city dwellers looking for a VIP scene without crowd chaos. Little did we know, KIN’s nocturnal poolside allure doubles as an outdoor spa refuge by day. If you’re a KIN party-goer who favors outdoor cabana bottle service, prepare to fall in love with outdoor cabana beauty service, featuring flowing spirits, massages, body treatments and matching facials.
KIN Spa is an indoor / outdoor full-service spa and salon known for Hyatt Pure Spa service standards and an atmosphere and menu completely unique to its downtown waterfront setting.
 Ride the escalator up to the 3rd floor, catch a glimpse of the outdoor pool setting, and enter KIN Spa’s double doors. The Manchester Grand Hyatt is a San Diego hotel fit for royalty, and the spa is no exception. With every detail including the dark wood entryway and soft white walls with gold accents, the spa experience radiates with a regal essence. Before or after a treatment, guests can enjoy the sauna and steam room, relaxation area with lounge chairs overlooking the pool, outdoor cabanas at the pool, a snack bar with nuts, fruit and citrus infused water, a fitness center and much more. Whether you’re a hotel guest catering to your bridal party needs or a downtown local craving a massage by the pool, KIN has a customizable treat waiting for you.
The salon is located just beyond the reception desk and is first to greet guests. Salon services include nail care, hair care and color, waxing and makeup. Everything you need, from spa manicures and pedicures to Propolis scalp treatments, permanent weaves, bridal up-dos, highlights and lowlights, full makeup application and full body waxing, you can find at the KIN Salon.
KIN’s signature spa service categories range from massage to body revelations, body treatments, just for men, facials, and combination packages. Once you check out the menu, you’ll have no problem picking a treatment. But you should know, everything on the menu is customizable, select services are available with matching facials, and the spa directors encourage you to make the KIN Spa experience your own.
 On a warm afternoon in autumn (because, obviously, we don’t have real seasons in San Diego), I made the KIN Spa experience my own with a little help from the Lemongrass & Sea Enzyme Body Wrap paired with the matching Tranquility Facial.
After I toured the facility, I still had about 30 minutes before my appointment time. Please know, spare time at a spa, especially KIN, is quite possibly the most amazing thing in the world. I changed into a plush bathrobe, grabbed a glass of citrus ice water, and claimed my own cabana by the pool. The view from atop the KIN terrace is breathtaking as boats shimmer in the harbor, the Coronado bridge shines in the sky, and happy sounds from Seaport Village dance around the waterside cityscape. As the breeze picked up I decided to head inside and prep my skin in the sauna for the last 10 minutes. Then, it was playtime...
Lemongrass & Sea Enzyme Body Wrap: Performed inside one of KIN’s treatment rooms, this service begins with a full body mandarin orange body scrub that contains apricot and almonds which help to make the skin smooth and more receptive. The mandarin scrub is applied one limb at a time, first lying on your stomach, then lying on your back.
Next, you are wrapped in a full-body cocoon with lemongrass, seaweed and algae to stimulate mental clarity and provide a complete source of nutrition. You are escorted to the locker room for a shower to wash off the body wrap, and when you return to the treatment room the final step is a moisturizing session with lemongrass lotion. As if the 90-minute body scrub and wrap isn’t enough, the paired Tranquility Facial is the final touch.
