Embrace the Holiday Season in San Diego

It's hard to escape the holiday spirit – so why try? Grab that
just-for-fashion scarf, a cup of hot cocoa with mini-mallows, and head into the
December night in San Diego
style.
Deck the Halls: When you want to be festive
Head to your local Home Depot or Christmas tree lot and spend some
time finding the best Charlie Brown Christmas tree you can. Once you find
the perfect tree, adopt it and decorate it with the same amount of affection
that the Peanuts characters once did. If you don't have room for even a Charlie
Brown Christmas tree, buy mistletoe for every passageway in your home. The two
of you will soon discover a new meaning to getting into the holiday spirit.
Winter Wonderland: When you want to be traditional
Cross the Coronado Bridge and head to the Hotel Del
Coronado. You don’t normally think ‘Winter Wonderland’ when viewing the
iconic Hotel Del, but you will after you witness this year’s festive
transformation. Even if you can’t afford to stay the night, the Del offers an impressive
array of holiday traditions. After gazing with wonder at the awesomely
decorated Christmas tree, you can try your typically flip-flop-clad feet at
outdoor ice skating, or dine at the renowned 1500
OCEAN before wrapping up your shopping list at the resort’s boutiques.
Silent Night: When you want to be alone
Drive east, farther east, then east some more. You know you're on the right
track when you pass Sycuan. When you stop the car, pull out the blankets, the
beach chairs, and the coffee mugs you packed at your place. After bundling up,
look up – and enjoy the peace and quiet and relish the fact that all the
carolers are many, many miles away.
