Ultimate Guide to the Perfect New Years Eve Kiss

Published : 12/23/2008 by DeAnna Lorraine

New Year's Eve in San Diego is perhaps the most romantic night of the year second only to Valentine's Day.

The high energy and excitement surrounding the night is a result of anticipation for what takes place the moment after the ball drops - no, not the singing of Auld Lang Sign - our very first kiss of the New Year. Some people even believe that the New Year's Eve kiss seals our romantic fate for the entire year.

With all that build up, there is a lot of pressure to make that kiss a memorable one. Here are some Insider tips for finding the perfect New Year's Eve kiss, and for making it one to remember.

Finding the Perfect Kiss

- If you're not bringing a date to your NYE party, Increase your NYE kiss odds by making sure wherever you are going to be is densely populated with members of the opposite sex. Do your research and choose an event that will have the highest potential of having like-minded prospects there. Find the best NYE parties here.

- Smart Scouting. When you get to the party, make sure you get your mingle on. Begin scouting early on in the night and set your sights on a few different lucky prospects - so you can start closing in on one of them by the time the clock strokes midnight.

- Play a little matchmaker game to help you scout. If you're at an event where the gentlemen are wearing ties, suggest that all the guys bring or take their ties off and put them in a bowl. Then all the ladies take a tie, and the goal is to find - and kiss - the owner of the tie by the end of the night.

- Bring Props like sprigs of Mistletoe to make your mission easier. Coyly whip out the mistletoe when you're next to someone cute, or hang some up in random places at the event you're at. Or bring a bunch of play handcuffs and hand them out to singles, with the goal of finding a partner to share the cuffs with by midnight.

- If you're single or don't want the added pressure of finding a NYE kiss, make it all about the friends and fashion by grabbing your best single friends, getting as glammed up as possible and dancing till dawn. At midnight, "group hug" all your BFFs and tell them how much they mean to you.

Making the Perfect Kiss

- Make it Sexy: If it's just the two of you for NYE, set up the scene as intimate as possible by lighting lots of scented candles, splurging on red satin sheets, dimming the lights and if possible, lighting a crackling fire. Make sure prior to kissing that you've got a wonderfully fresh mouth and perfectly soft, kissable lips.

- Make it Memorable: Grab your man (or woman) right before the countdown and pull them somewhere completely random, like under the table, on a rooftop, in a hotel ice room, in a private closet, etc. Having the actual kiss someplace totally unexpected will make it much more unforgettable.

- Make it Adventurous: If it's rainy or snowy outside, but your party is taking place inside, put your prissiness behind you, pull your date outside & have the kiss out there! There's something very sexy about sharing a NYE kiss with snowflakes swirling about you or rain falling down.

- Make it Passionate: If you're a couple, be sure to look into your partner's eyes & kiss him/her like it's the last kiss you'll ever have! Hold their face close, keep your eyes open, get lost in each other amongst the noise and re-ignite those sparks that you had in the beginning.

- Make it Last. If you haven't said those three big words yet but you've been holding back or waiting for the right moment, there is no better time to tell someone how you feel than in the middle of a NYE kiss! All the excitement surrounding the night makes it the perfect time to say those words and will guarantee a most blissful kiss that is sure to seal your romantic fate for the New Year.
