The Mediterranean Seafood Festival at Trattoria Acqua

While Trattoria Acqua is celebrated for its soothing ambiance and eclectic Italian cuisine, the restaurant's greatest magnets are delectably maritime. Throughout the month of April, discerning diners can enjoy the freshest fish and shellfish in La Jolla during Acqua's Mediterranean Seafood Festival. Each menu option offers a rare opportunity to enjoy the finest seafood of the season, flown straight from the Mediterranean Sea.
I tried the risotto del giorno, artfully designed with delicate and tender Mediterranean Sea Scallops still in their lacy shells bordering the generous portion of carnaroli rice. Simmered to perfection with fresh peas and succulent Black Tiger Shrimp, the flavors of the risotto melded perfectly, yet were still individually defined. A spray of edible cornflowers from the middle of the dish perfected the stellar presentation. Halved cherry tomatoes folded into the dish offered a burst of tart flavor that slices perfectly through the richness of the risotto. A glass of Fiano di Avellino from the special selections of wines by the glass was a perfect complement to the dish.
Other Mediterranean Seafood Festival selections are Spiny Lobster, Halibut, Royal Scampi, Sea Bass, and many others. Four to five new dishes will be offered every day of the festival, along with fine Italian wines for perfect pairing.
Trattoria Acqua is open daily for lunch from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, and open for dinner at 5:00 pm. Trattoria Acqua is also a perfect venue for large parties and special occasions.
