A Provocative Jewel: La Jolla Strip Club Grand Opening

Lucky downtown locals love grilling their own steaks at Gaslamp Strip Club, and now, deprived residents of La Jolla won’t have to withstand the jealousy any longer.

For years, downtown districts have lead the industry in “grill-your-own” concept dining establishments, with favorites including Gaslamp Strip Club and Turf Supper Club. No, you won’t find risqué dancing women or flashing nude signs here, but you will find a basic and honest return to the bare essentials of dining. It’s simple: at these restaurants, you order the meat, choose the fixings and cook your own dinner on central grills monitored by chefs and managers.

La Jolla locals don’t have to cry jealously any longer, as the Cohn Restaurant Group has launched a brand new “grill-your-own” restaurant in the University Town Center area. The La Jolla Strip Club restaurant features a casual, friendly atmosphere and a spacious 8,500 sq.ft. dining room that can accommodate up to 280 guests. Its relaxed mood is complemented by the restaurant’s flat screen TVs, pool tables and a provocative collection of pin-up artwork, similar to what you’re used to viewing at the original Gaslamp venue.

Grand Opening Party: Celebrate the official grand opening of La Jolla Strip Club on Wednesday, December 9 with a hosted bar from 9-10pm and lovely beats by DJ Ayla Simone all night, hosted by DJhere Productions. Get details here.

The La Jolla Strip Club’s veteran Executive Chef and General Manager, James Stephenson is a self-taught chef with more than 20 years of restaurant experience, including eight years with the Cohn Restaurant Group. James Stephenson also oversees the Gaslamp Strip Club restaurant – which ensures the same details found at the Gaslamp location will be ubiquitous in La Jolla.

“The La Jolla Strip Club is the kind of joint where you would find James Bond enjoying martinis and steaks with Charlie’s Angels,” said David Cohn, president of the Cohn Restaurant Group. “La Jolla, specifically UTC, is the perfect spot for our casual, entertaining and unique Strip Club restaurant. Our provocative décor and menu items create the best atmosphere for enjoying the fun things in life – such as breaking the ice on a blind date, having a cool girls’ night out and more. We are certain that our team, led by Executive Chef and General Manager James Stephenson, will continue our award-winning Strip Club legacy.”

The Food: To Grill or Not to Grill?

Dinner menu favorites include the 10 oz. Strip Club Skirt Steak, 8 oz. Sushi Grade Ahi Tuna, signature 12 oz. La Jolla New York Strip, 8 oz. Filet Mignon or your choice of Beef, Chicken or Shrimp Kabobs, with such available Sassy Sides as roasted garlic mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese fries with bacon, sautéed mushrooms, white truffle mac & cheese, blue cheese and onion potatoes au gratin, beer battered onion rings and grill-ready garlic bread. Dining out for a special occasion? Try the Dom & Steak combo – choose any steak paired with a bottle of Dom Perignon.

For lunch, dip into the Seductive Sandwiches menu, featuring The Strip Club classic with roasted turkey, lettuce, tomato, bacon, avocado and basil mayo, the French Kiss with house roasted sirloin, pepper jack, dijon, caramelized onion and au jus, or the Hot Chick with grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, blue cheese, lettuce and tomato. If your hot chick lunch date is a light eater, she’ll love the Sinful Salad options, including the Southern Bell with mixed greens, roasted peppers, black beans, corn tomato, shredded cheddar, avocado, tortilla strips and spiked bbq ranch, or the Me Love You Long Time selection with mixed greens, Asian slaw, crispy wantons and sriracha peanut vinaigrette.

La Jolla Strip Club, located across the street from the Westfield UTC, is open for lunch Monday through Friday and “grill-your-own” dinner, seven days a week. The restaurant also features a premier vodka lounge with $7 martinis all-day, everyday, with a selection of more than 100 different vodka varieties.
