Select San Diego parties and celebrations only happen once a year. However, there are a host of public annual events in San Diego that are just as memorable. To make sure you don't miss a beat, we've rounded up the top September events in San Diego.


1. ASR, San Diego

San Diego ASR, a leading trade event, brings the top action sports industry manufacturers, buyers, and fans together under one roof at the San Diego Convention Center. Featuring the latest in skate, surf, and snow; ASR, San Diego trade show is the perfect place for anyone interested in the action sports industry culture.


Insider Note: On Friday, September 7 during ASR is Shmoozapalooza. This event, open to the public and show attendees, features the Action Sports industry's top employers who are looking to fill immediate and future hiring needs.

2. Art Walk on the Bay

3. Taste of Downtown

The sixth annual Taste of Downtown returns to San Diego. Enjoy this self guided tour that brings you the best delicacies San Diego has to offer as you travel the streets of Little Italy, the Financial District, East Village, and the Gaslamp Quarter.

Billed as the premier West Coast yacht show, the 8th annual YachtFest of San Diego takes places September 13-16. An affluent array of boats, yachts, super yachts, and ocean accessories from major international manufacturers will be on display and for sale at this seaside event.

5. Action Sports World Tour

The ex-home of the famed X-Games is now the home to the final leg of the Action Sports World Tour. The 2007 Action Sports World Tour kicked off September 1-2 in Arizona and comes to a finale in Belmont Park in Mission Beach. More than 50 world-class skateboarders, BMX riders, and aggressive inline skaters will bring their aerial acrobatics and unmatched moves to San Diego in a world-class competition by the beach. In addition the live action sports display, there will be a live performance by the female rock group The Donnas.


Insider Note: The three-day San Diego event will also feature the first-ever all girls skateboard, snowboard and surfing competition, entitled the S3 Supergirl Jam.


6. San Diego Music Awards

Viejas Concerts in The Park presents the 17th annual San Diego Music Awards on September 17. Past artists to win and appear are Blink 182, Jewel, and Switchfoot. Some of this year's featured performers are Jason Mraz and Buck-O-Nine. A part of the proceeds will benefit Taylor Guitars for Schools, an organization that helps fund music programs for local schools.


Insider Note: The official San Diego Music Awards After-Party starts at 10PM and is free with SDMA ticket. The after-party takes place at The DreamCatcher Showroom in the Viejas Casino.


7. Fleet Week

In a salute to the American military, as well as San Diego's strong military history, there is a week-long tribute series of events, including the MCAS Miramar Air. The flagship event of San Diego's military salute is the September 29 Fleet Week Sea & Air Parade. A grand parade of various U.S. Navy ships and aircrafts along the San Diego Bay displaying the history and might of our nation's navy.


Insider Note: A newer event to San Diego's Fleet Week is the Red Bull Air Race World Series to take place September 21-22. Also, please note that all events taking place on military-only installations are open to the public during this celebratory week.


8. San Diego Festival of Beer

The 13th annual Festival of Beer hits the streets of Downtown San Diego to bring you an evening filled with live music and 120 microbrew samplings from over 60 different breweries. San Diego Professionals Against Cancer, SDPAC, use proceeds to benefit many local San Diego cancer related charities, patient treatment facilities, and research organizations.

The Old Town San Diego Chamber of Commerce sponsors the second annual Old Town Art Festival, featuring over 150 arts and crafts booths from around the globe. Along with the art and beautiful San Diego weather will be a wine tasting pavilion and continuous live entertainment.

The September events end with a competitive four-day film fest that offers a complete entertainment experience. The 6th annual San Diego Film Festival features local and international features, documentaries, music videos, industry panels, the American Screenwriters Association's annual conference, and four nights of glamorous San Diego Gaslamp parties.


Insider Note: All panels (except Women Filmmakers Forum) will take place Saturday, September 29 at Borders bookstore on Sixth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter. All San Diego Film Festival parties are open to VIP, festival, and day pass holders only.
