Top Ten San Diego Concerts in August

The sunny summer season is a time for big bands and solo artist stars to come to San Diego--transforming San Diego into an all-inclusive Mecca for music. With hundreds of San Diego concerts this August, there is sure to be a concert for every rock, reggae, and pop music fanatic.


To make sure your August is on key, we combed the San Diego concert lineup to bring you the top 10 San Diego concerts in August. Prepare to make plans.




Good Charlotte performs a live acoustic set at The Wave House, located within the famous Belmont Park in Mission Beach on August 1.

Good Charlotte is a pop punk band most famous for its 2002 triple-platinum fan favorite release "The Young and the Hopeless." The band's vibrant and energetic rock sound attracts a wide, youthful crowd. The event is presented in conjunction with Clear Channel Radio, and local DJ Mark Thrasher of Channel 933 will be there to broadcast live on the radio.

Good ol' southern charm meets the beach August 2 with a performance by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill at the San Diego Sports Arena.

Both singers are award winning American country music superstars. The event is part of the wedded couple's Soul 2 Soul concert that began in 2000. The tour features a rare in-the-round stage set, which is circular platform in the center of the arena surrounded by a larger circle where the band plays.

The nationwide hip hop festival known as Rock The Bells will be making a stop at the Coors Amphitheater on August 12.

Rock The Bells began in 2003 to help expose the world to all levels of Hip Hop culture: from emcee battles, b-boy circles, to performances from artists new and old. Supernatural, Rahzel, and Hi-Tek will host the event.

Mos Def, the Wu-Tang Clan, and Talib Kweli are just a few of the many artists scheduled to bring their talents to the indoor/outdoor music experience that defines hip hop music in San Diego.

At a modest and all-age San Diego music venue, an emerging band Atreyu will take the stage. The metalcore band has a strong cult following and the San Diego venue, SOMA, is also a cult favorite.SOMA is located in Point Loma, neighboring the San Diego Sports Arena.

Atreyu may not be in the national spotlight yet, but they are quickly gaining great popularity.They headline an August 30 concert at SOMA that includes metal bands Trivium, Droid, and Lower Definition.
