The Definitive Guide to San Diego Fall Fashion

I love summer, I really do. The dresses, the tank tops, the havaianas -- oh my! But there's a certain comfort that comes with the changing of the seasons. I begin looking forward to cooler weather, being fashionable and cozy in fall's latest trends.

It's been a tough job, but I have hunted down the must-have trends at San Diego's hottest boutiques to bring you the ultimate, must-have fall outfit -- from the key pieces that will make up the foundation of your fall wardrobe, to the funky accessories of the moment. Of course, each piece can be worn separate and look just as amazing, but when you put them together, you're going to blow everyone away this fall.

The Pieces!

Wide Leg Denim:

What is everyone's favorite wardrobe staple? The denim pant -- but it's far from being basic this season. Having never been a huge fan of skinny jeans, I was so excited to hear that the wide leg silhouette is making a comeback. It's not time to banish your skinny jeans just yet to the back of the closet, but a great pair of wide leg denim pants will be a staple in your wardrobe this fall.

Hudson's Deluxe Wide Leg Jean has the perfect amount of stretch, a relaxed wide leg fit, and the company's amazing signature back flap pockets. These jeans can be found at LA Fairchild in Cardiff by the Sea. As for the high-waisted, wide leg denim look, try the Seven's Dojo jeans from Nordstrom in La Jolla. If you are not ready to take the plunge, take a less expensive route with Level 99's wide leg jeans found at Studio 1220 in Hillcrest.

Leather Bomber Jacket

The leather bomber jacket will become the go-to outerwear choice in your fall wardrobe. This trend will no doubt set you back a couple weeks (or a month) when it comes to something less important, such as say. . . electricity or water, maybe? However, the leather jacket is one of those timeless trends that never really goes out of style. It's extremely versatile, looking classy with the wide leg denim, and fashionable over one of your dresses when it gets too cold outside.

The light brown leather bomber found at Tatiana's in Del Mar is a perfect choice and will surpass the test of time. A fantastic faux leather bomber version is available at Forever 21 for $29.00. It looks just as nice as the real thing -- and even better, you can still pay all of your bills!

Oxford Booties

Lace-up oxford booties, reminiscent of the 1920's, take on a new and improved look this season. The bootie is the perfect shoe of choice for this fall season because not only do they keep your tootsies warm, but they're also a great alternative to boots. They look amazing with the aforementioned wide leg jeans, but are just as cute worn with a dress, with or without tights.

A semi-preppy yet fashionable oxford can be found at Stephanie's Shoes in Birdrock for $188. For a more reserved but equally trendy look, try the Marc by Marc Jacobs black and brown oxfords found at Nordstrom for $450. At any rate, the decision is solely up to you.

Accessories

To complete this outfit, you can add one or all of these accessories, depending on your mood. If you're going the tucked-in route, accessorize with the Streets Ahead skinny leather belt found at LF in La Jolla for a splash of color. Cover two handbag Fall trends by throwing on a Deux Lux structured, metallic bag found at Urban Outfitters in Downtown over your shoulder and you are good to go. Finally, stack on some bangles and layered necklaces, and you will be ready to make a stylish entrance into San Diego fall fashion.
