San Diego offers the same coveted Southern California lifestyle perks of Los Angeles, without the Hollywood dirt and drama. 75-degree weather, flawless beaches, swanky resorts, posh nightclubs and luxury spas all served on a silver platter, sans paparazzi wars. While many celebrities prefer jet-setting off to remote tropical islands, their busy schedules don’t always allow for such a lavish escape. San Diego’s close proximity to L.A. makes it an ideal staycation out of the scene. But if privacy is the goal, stars don’t exactly announce their arrival on Twitter.
There are a few different ways to predict and participate in local celebrity sightings. The top nightclubs hire and promote celebrity-hosted parties every weekend. From FLUXX to the Andaz Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Stingaree, anyone in town can pay club cover to party with the stars. And bonus, many of the big name hosts also surprise the crowd with live in-club performances. These mega-clubs have welcomed high-profile performers and under-the-radar VIP guests including Usher, Jessica Biel, Joel McHale, Snoop Dogg, Carmen Electra, Lebron James, Mario Lopez, Kendra Wilkinson, Kelly Osbourne and even Prince Harry, just to name a few. Aside from the nightlife scene, you can expect to see big stars during huge summer events like Comic-Con and Del Mar Racetrack Opening Day.
