The debonair Hard Rock graced the local hospitality scene in 2007. Along with polished interiors and nostalgic displays of rock 'n roll past, the Hard Rock introduced San Diego to the Gerber Group.

The Gerber Group is a contemporary development team known for internationally acclaimed restaurants, lounges, and bars that epitomize urban sophistication. The San Diego Hard Rock Hotel is home to two lavish Gerber Bars: Sweetwater Saloon and Moonstone Lounge. Fresh perspective and swank elegance resonate at each Gerber creation. See for yourself...

Meet Sweetwater
Located on the main level of the hotel lobby, the mysterious Sweetwater Saloon greets guests at the outdoor entryway amidst Gaslamp light, and at the indoor line gathered above the pearly white tile floor. Passing either the sprawling outdoor terrace or the glamorous high-energy lobby, Gerber-going individuals meet statuesque suited men that stick to the guest list, without fail, ensuring only the best crowd within.

A flash of distant deep red meets the eye as dangling crystal balls communicate an element of intoxicating intrigue. Martini-sipping guests strut about the lounge peering across the centralized bar for adjacent insight. Groups and couples relax in plush black leather booths adorned with simple table-side white candles. Some look to the translucent crystal balls hanging above, and others admire the captivating cocktail menu, perusing their poison of choice.

Dark brick columns and acutely exposed brick walls are softened by tall, old-fashion wooden ceilings and dramatic drapes full of flowing tan. Cascading down the center brick columns like lavish icicles are tiny diamond-like gems, illuminated by a solitary light - one of the few in the room.

Two large VIP booths are housed in the back of the lounge, a brilliant red escape from the dim, crystal-lined enigmatic saloon. A chic gothic chandelier shines overhead and enhances rays from the dual retro pink lamps cornering the triple-sided red couch. A low-level cocktail table sits atop a gray shag carpet, and blocks of modern red crocodile skin move about to stir conversation amid bottle service.

Sweetwater is saloon-like only in the dim corridors that fill with an upscale crowd eager to cheers Absinthe cocktails and mingle until the late night. From the soft wood and exposed brick to the vintage meets modern approach to edgy interior design, the sleek Sweetwater Saloon is undoubtedly Gerber.

Meet Moonstone
Through the polished Hard Rock lobby, Moonstone-going guests head up the guest list proofed elevator to the mid-level rooftop, passing through a wide windowed hallway to the outdoor lounge. As the harbor breeze hits your skin, you awaken to greet lantern lit trees shading a grand oasis filled with fire pit VIP lounges - and that's just the beginning.

A wrap-around bar with ultra-modern petite stools connects the entryway to the semi-hidden bar lounge shielded by a lit overhang. Bold black and white graffiti-style street art tackles select bar walls, proposing questions of youth, love and the risks of rock ‘n roll. Lucid drapes unveil mystical glimpses into the Gaslamp cityscape through floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows. A large geometric display of pure white modern art looms beside soft wooden tables and chairs topped with subtle off-white candles.

Under the San Diego sky, Moonstone guests lounge in stark black VIP booths, accented by white and zebra skin pillow plush. Each three-sided booth is internally connected by its own blazing fire bit, enabling upper-crust guests to remain warm while enjoying the uninhibited view of the San Diego skyline.

During the day Gerber-going parties rejuvenate in poolside cabanas. However, the petite pool is covered by night - and the pool lounge is open, encouraging adventurous guests to walk on water. The blend of edgy urban décor and resilient pacific ambiance makes Moonstone Lounge a decidedly Gerber destination.

Different Strokes
SanDiegoClubs.com announces Different Strokes Friday nights at Sweetwater Saloon and Moonstone Lounge, officially inviting San Diego to explore the dual Gerber strokes within the solitary Hard Rock Hotel. While sharing the same elements of mystique and urbane sophistique, Sweetwater Saloon and Moonstone Lounge are two very different venues with varying nocturnal allure.
