Party for the Planet with VeeV at Stingaree
Published : 02/20/2008 by Michelle Guerin
Some may say the emergent eco-conscious craze is merely a fad, and that celebrity endorsers are making this noble lifestyle into a stereotypical trend, similar even to fro-yo for dinner, or body painting at events.
While it's a sad truth that people abuse eco-friendly alternatives as a marketing tool to promote a given product or initiative, there is justice in the world - and companies like VeeV Acai Spirit are proof of the integrity of business and of business as a means toward progress in the fight to save the planet.
The first organically infused elixir, VeeV is an Acai berry based liquer that drinks like a vodka. The Brazilian national fruit, Acai, grows atop Amazonian palm trees and has been hailed as the healthiest food on the planet. Popularized by surfers and athletes (and Oprah!), it's loaded with 57% more antioxidants than blueberries and has 30 times more heart-healthy anthocyanins than red wine.
VeeV isn't just a liquer company, it's a progressive enterprise at heart, built on preserving the environment from whence the acai berry is born: the Brazilian rainforest. VeeV donates $1 per bottle sold towards preventative and restoration green initiatives. VeeV paired up with the Rainforest Action Network and the Sustainable Acai Project to ensure the sustainability of the super-fruit.
Celebrating the recent success of their green initiatives in San Diego, and as a result, in the Brazilian rainforest, VeeV Acai Spirit is teaming up with Lexus Hybrid Living to throw the ultimate Party for the Planet at Stingaree, Thursday, March 28, 2008.
You may be thinking a huge party at a San Diego super club is hardly the best way to preserve energy - but don't worry, VeeV knows how to throw an eco-friendly party, and is taking every step toward conservation, preservation, and fundraising.
DJ Macy Gray is the official guest DJ of the party. Known for her involvement in environmental causes, Macy Gray will entertain the packed club with progressive mash up hits. VeeV will serve signature eco-friendly cocktails to a notable crowd, consisting of Baltimore Ravens QB Kyle Boller, X-Games stars Danny Way, Jake Brown, Patrick Duffy, and many more. VeeV bottle service will be available for $200, and cocktails will go for $7.

One step ahead of Earth Day 2008, Stingaree is joining the VeeV force to transform the chic club into a center of eco-conscious collaboration. During the Party for the Planet, VeeV cocktails will be presented only in glassware, instead of plastic cups, and dishwashers will only be used when full. There will be recycling bins throughout the venue and at the bar, and staff will be composting throughout the night. All non-dimmer light bulbs are changed to energy-efficient lighting, including the emergency exit signs, using low LED lighting.
Recycled seed paper cocktail menus replace standard menus, placed alongside VeeV recycled cocktail napkins. In addition, Climate Clean LLC will carbon neutralize the party, there will be only non-hazardous, eco-friendly hand soaps in restroom facilities, post-consumer waste paper will be used for all bathroom products, and sinks will utilize water-conserving motion sensors.
As a result, there will be zero-landfill waste generated at the Party for the Planet. And taking the green initiatives one step further, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Surfrider Foundation (surfrider.org). So, VeeV it up with bottle service and Party for the Planet at Stingaree Thursday, March 28; doors open at 9pm. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.
