Ivy Updates: Spotlight on Ultra Lounge, Envy & Eden
Published : 12/03/2007 by Lauren Brunelle
A typical night out on the town is no longer what
it used to be in San Diego.
Some of the hippest clubs, lounges, and rooftop bars have recently opened their
doors to both locals and those visiting the Southern California coastline.
These new trendsetting hangouts are giving the city
of San Diego an edge unbeknownst to most towns
across America.
The Ivy
Hotel's Ultra Lounge, their nightclub, Envy, and the rooftop bar,
Eden, are primary examples of the kind of swanky hotspots that are now gracing
our city's streets.
Approaching the Ivy's six month mark, many San
Diegans are wondering: What's the latest with the
Ivy? With 2008 on the horizon, the buzz is (still)
biased toward the rise of Ivy's triple-threat nightlife offerings: Ultra
Lounge, Envy,
and Eden.
The Ultra Lounge at the Ivy Hotel
The Ivy, which caters
to a more sophisticated crowd ranging from their mid-twenties to their late
forties, offers a high-end clientele three main retreats to escape reality,
cheers to friends, and dance into the night.
On the street level of this grandiose hotel, is the
Ultra Lounge, which seduces the senses with
inviting leather couches and a shimmering lighting that gives a dramatic feel
as it reflects off the darkly colored bar. At the lounge, you can enjoy a dirty
martini while conversing with friends and evaluating the crowd before heading
upstairs to the club. The lounge proves to be an ideal place to start off the
night, a place where guests can settle in with a couple of vodka tonics before
venturing into the high energy atmosphere of the nightclub.
Heat Up the Night at
Envy
At Envy,
guests can experience a different kind of club than other venues offered
throughout the city. Entry to this exclusive retreat typically costs $20 a head
and will leave even the most sensual of spirits speechless.
Envy, which is located below the Ultra Lounge,
mimics an S&M type dungeon and has proven to successfully lure both sexes
to dance into the wee hours of the morning. Deep-red beaded curtains draw back
as you enter the three-story club and are instantly exposed to the most
seductive of dance tunes.
The walls at Envy are adorned with photographs of
women in lingerie and cocktail waitresses will order your first round of shots
in vinyl cat suits. For those desiring bottle service in this ultra posh scene,
the liquor can flow freely at one of Envy's VIP tables.
Introducing Seduction
Thursdays
Envy recently launched Seduction
Thursdays for guests who want to start the weekend early and
dance off the week with drink specials and good friends. Enjoy the VIP amenities
that the Ivy Hotel is known for before the weekend
crowd has its way with the dance floor. The new Seduction Thursdays kick off at
7pm with a private reception before doors open to the public at 8pm. Stay tuned
for the DiscoverSD.com Climax Party, concluding
the Thursday night series at Envy
on Thursday, December 27, 2007.
Rooftop at the Eden
If Envy's hideaway club is too much for your mellow
night on the town, you can simply hop on the elevator and travel to the top
floor of the Ivy Hotel for a breath of fresh air.
Eden,
the rooftop pool-side bar, which is known as the largest rooftop bar in San
Diego, takes more of a simplistic approach to the social scene norm. The hints
of white atop this hotel's bar gives way to traces of bamboo, which make for a
clean and elegant atmosphere.
At Eden, guests can sip on a Mojito in their own
private poolside cabana. The rooftop overlooks San Diego and the city lights are a perfect
contrast to this dimly lit space. Whether you're kicking back with a glass of
wine in one of Eden's wooden lounges or grazing
the deck for new friends, Eden
has become one of the most popular hangouts in the city to take in the view and
settle into the night.
Take an Overnight
Trip
Begin within a lounge that will make you feel as if
you're in Los Angeles and the paparazzi may pop by to photograph you in your
weekend best at any given moment. Not in the mood to lounge? Bring that special
someone to Envy,
a San Diego nightclub with a Las Vegas touch, to feel the heat and dance
the night away. To cool off Miami style, whisk
your friends away to the rooftop bar at Eden. No time
to catch a cab? No problem - simply hop in the elevator and continue your night
in a luxe suite.
Those visiting the Ivy
Hotel will have a one of a kind nightlife experience as this boutique
hotel's multiple personalities are revealed.
