Discover the happy hour pick of the week from the San Diego Wine and Culinary Center in the Gaslamp Quarter.
Leashed patrons on all fours, sniffing each other and howling at passing trolleys hardly seem like your typical happy hour crowd in Downtown San Diego. However, such rude Downtown behavior is forgiven when patrons are San Diego pups. Discover a whole new breed of happy hour at the San Diego Wine and Culinary Center.
The San Diego Wine and Culinary Center, located on the ground floor of the Harbor Club Towers and seated in between Petco Park and the San Diego Convention Center, is the epicenter of elegant events. The Center boasts a well-stocked wine bar, seating for large parties and corporate events, and urban winery tours set to educate the masses on what's in their glasses.
But what really packs in the crowd is their weekly Wednesday wingding, better known as K-9's-N-Wine. The Downtown doggie lovers are encouraged to dress in their best, brush their pup's coats and break out that old diamond studded collar for this happy hour. With sponsors like Flex Petz and City Dog, K-9's-N-Wine takes place at the San Diego Wine and Culinary Center every Wednesday from 5:30 8:30PM, and is a great event for dog lovers to relax and mingle.
Glasses of premium wine, well drinks, and martinis are available for $5 during happy hour. But what really steals the bone is their posh café menu. Their menu offers a slice of what to expect from the Center's culinary side, presenting decadent meals such as Norwegian Smoked Salmon, Tuscan Toast, and a last course meal of three premium dessert wines served in edible white chocolate cups. That's enough to make any wine enthusiast howl!
Peek in the doggie door to discover the San Diego happy hour pick of the week: the Ham & Swiss Panini from the San Diego Wine and Culinary Center.
It's a dog-eat-dog world out there, filled with appetizers and antipastos ready to baffle and bewilder your taste buds. Yet, it's always refreshing to find a simple dish that does what it's supposed to do: satisfy. The Ham & Swiss Panini is a wonderful blend of simplicity and decadence wrapped in toasted bread and served with a side of spinach salad. Dijon mustard salad dressing completes the meal with a little zing. This easy dish is the perfect accent to a relaxing evening with your dog and friends.
"K-9's-N-Wine has been going on for about five months and is proving to be a very successful venture," says Christopher Herbert, the General Manager of San Diego Wine and Culinary Center.
With unique events like K-9's-N-Wine, as well as other events throughout the week, the San Diego Wine and Culinary Center in Downtown San Diego is sure to move out of the dog house and right into your weekly routine in no time.
