Editorial Review of
Jimmy O's
Del Mar isn’t exactly renowned for their nightlife, and yet the community is home to one of the best sports bars in the county. Though not nearly as colossal in size as Players or Seau’s, Jimmy O’s compensates with good times and a more courteous crowd. This Del Mar sports bar strives for more of a community vibe, packing in local regulars weekly to watch their favorite teams. However, be sure to arrive early on big game days because this pub can get packed! Luckily Jimmy O’s has conveniently placed hundreds of television sets, lining the majority of the bar area. Jimmy O’s is also especially busy during racing season, as the neighborhood might suggest, as happy winners and their entourages cram into the tavern form the nearby Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. It’s best to arrive early and grab a chair before they’re removed for dancing. That’s right, dancing in the sports bar. Jimmy O’s does it all and even has an attached restaurant option for the less sports-friendly patrons. The menu is packed with classic American fare, with a gourmet twist, sure to please both the perfected pallet and the amateur eater. Evening munchies like the asiago cheese and chicken quesadilla are some of the more popular options. Our favorite? Try the Cajun cheeseburger or the teriyaki ahi which make for a great foundation for a long night of drinking. Be sure to get your sports fix settled at Jimmy O’s, an oasis in the usually barren Del Mar neighborhood.
