The Westgate Hotel, recently designated as San Diego’s best business hotel by Travel + Leisure magazine, serves as an art museum as well as sleeping quarters. Its lobby, meeting and dining areas showcase eighteenth-century antiques, Baccarat crystal chandeliers, French tapestries, and Persian carpets.
The accommodations are nothing to scoff at, either—they are generally considered the largest in downtown San Diego. Each contains a mini bar, a kitchen, an Italian marble bathroom, European imported furniture, an oversized work desk, and a host of other amenities meant to make guests feel like royalty. Views from the balconies span the beach to the bay to Balboa Park. When you’re hungry, head downstairs, where the heartbreakingly romantic Le Fontainebleau serves incomparable, contemporary French cuisine.
