I have never experienced such a horrible experience at any hotel. From the moment we got out of our cab our nightmare at The Ivy began. We were not greeted when getting out of the cab. Five employees including valet and security just starred at us while we tried to gather our luggage, they did not even offer to open the door and they were 2 feet away from it just gossiping with each other. The girl at the desk was extremely rude while checking in. Like it was a pain in her butt to check us in. On a Friday night we wanted to experience their party scene and hung out on the rooftop. I went to use the bathroom and left my purse with my friends, as to save my place. When I was gone someone tried to steal my seat and my friends politely let him know that I had just gone to the bathroom. This stranger started yelling then throwing ice at us. Security then came over and tried to kick us out because the stranger was friends with the owner. We tried to explain what had happened and how inappropriate this guy was but security kept saying "he is friends with the owner". Are you kidding me? Five people, 3 rooms, for 4 nights = $3,363.24 and we couldn't even enjoy a cocktail on the rooftop. We tried complaining to the front desk and they were even more condescending and rude then security. Spend your money elsewhere unless you enjoy being treated like crap. I should say that the concierge, Seth, was helpful though. The rest of the staff should take a cue from him.
We got there around 10-1030 and there was a HUGE line outside. Someone I was with talked to the guy at the gate and he let us all go to the "invited guest" or whatever line that only had two other people in it. We got in there real quick, paid the $20 cover (too expensive for my liking considering that the rooftop was only for 'hotel residence') then some guy let us through. To my surprise, I could count with my hands how many people were on the downstairs floor. So why the hell was there a huge line outside and they weren't letting anyone in?? I really don't get it at all. So we sat on a couch, watched a bunch of sloppy drunks straddle guys on the couches next to us.... and yeah, that was about all of our entertainment. Everyone looked insanely bored and nobody was dancing. Luckily, the guy we were with flirted 'til he got the rest of us girls up to the roof with him. The music downstairs was TERRIBLE, but was considerably better upstairs. And I must admit that the atmosphere on the rooftop was much better, as well. Still didn't have that too good of a time. It just looked like it was full of a bunch of wannabe's... everyone seemed to be trying soo hard to look cool and rich. Pretty lame.
This place is beautiful but its extremely typical. A group of friends and myself got bottle service and VIP etc...Anyway word for the wise DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD... they will run your bill up with "extra" bottles and charge you $50 for a single beer. The overall charge for one night was around 8000, absolutely ridiculous. This place is a wolf in sheepskin. Go there with enough cash for a bottle and beers and you will have an amazing time, because disputing the extra charges is a HE said SHE said battle.
This was the WORST experience ever! do not go unless you wanted to be treated like you are paying $1.00 a night! The staff thinks they are giving you a break by servicing you and they act like the are the next big thing. THe entire place is ran by people no older than 27 and who do not poses an ounce of etiquette or manner.
The hotel is gorgeous! Very luxurious and offers a selection of activities. Me and friends love to come here for a drink, and great thing about it is if you don't want to get all dolled up, you can just go to their rooftop bar Eden.
This is definitely a great club to check out in Gaslamp...the place is huge and they have great music and drinks
Envy has such an upper-class feeling to it than anywhere else in SD. Friday and Saturday nights are super packed, but i'd rather be here than any other club in downtown SD! The service here is amazing.
Stunning rooftop of the Ivy hotel. The decorations were very nicely done. Great place to have drinks with some pals.
This Hotel is just insane. What a cool place to staying at. I've been there with my girlfriend and we enjoyed it alot. the king-sized bunk bed is pretty cool and actually a really good idea. I would recommend the Ivy Hotel alot. Check out the hotels night club Envy
I stayed here for a weekend with some close friends....the rooms were absolutely fantastic! They have killer decor and plasma screen TVs...and did I mention your own butler? We even had VIP access to Envy....all around amazing weekend!
You've got to do yourself a favor and treat yourself to at least one night stay at the Ivy. I loved it. Your completely immersed in class and elegance and it feels awesome. It does come with a price but its definitely worth it. Love the night club too.
The guest rooms at the Ivy Hotel are so extravagant. I have never been to a hotel where you have your own personal butler and VIP access to a hot nightclub. They also have complimentary, top of line, body care products from Korres.
I love this hotel. The rooms are killer, like a fantasy of some sureal designer or something. Eden is the freshest club I've seen in along time, totally on the same level as the top New York and LA clubs. It makes me so happy to stay here.
loved it
Went to Ivy Saturday night with four girlfriends and two out of town here from New York they said the Ivy was definetely on par with New York night clubs it is beautiful. The crowd was great and the music was pumping.
This is what my sister said of her stay at the San Diego Ivy Hotel. I have been to their Nightclub called Envy... but haven't stayed here myself. Has anyone seen the room with the king-sized bunk bed? I heard it was really cool.
The Ivy Hotel just opened recently, and I've been hearing good things about it. The rooms are luxurious, with 42-inch flat screen TVs! Hi-tech amenities are in place, so I'm assuming that means wireless Internet connectivity. The rooftop nightclub also seems interesting, and is said to have a really huge bar. I’ll be checking that out when I visit San Diego next month. This, however, could get expensive.
During late nightclub hours it's difficult to make your way to the roof-top bar because of the popularity amongst locals and travelers. What i've discovered is that staying at the hotel guarantees access to the roof-top's amazing atmosphere and view. The reservation bot on Discover SD guarantees lowest rates; the rates are great... try comparing it against other sites.
Yea, I do recommend you check it out. We go out downtown to party once a month or so and because we live in Del Mar we just get a hotel and avoid the costly cab/sedan/limo ride. It's also more enjoyable that way. Anyways, they have a cool rooftop bar called Eden which you should check out even if you're a business traveler.
