Homestead is a good, inexpensive choice for an extended San Diego stay. Suites are spacious, and each includes a dining area, workstation, and kitchenette with requisite appliances and utensils. There are several grocery stores nearby to keep the refrigerator stocked.

Although the area is generally quiet, don’t count on sleeping in—the hotel is so close to the airbase, jets booming overhead every morning will supersede your need for coffee. There is no fitness center, but you can visit the neighboring Bally’s for just $5 a day.
