The Catamaran is a true resort, a lushly landscaped oasis set apart from the beach bars and the boisterous boardwalk. The hotel’s 315 elegant rooms, studios and suites are appointed with every amenity, including with views spanning the nearby sands all the way to the hazy Mexican islands.
The hotel boasts its own secluded Mission Bay beach, as well as expansive gardens littered with pathways, steams, and koi ponds, ideal for strolling and personal reflection. The Atoll restaurant, winner of several awards, offers five star dining amidst warm sea breezes. Their sprawling champagne Sunday brunch has been voted best in San Diego, if you enjoy early-day intoxication.
The Catamaran on Mission Bay is one of my favorite San Diego hotels. Guests quite literally have amazing views of the bay and their own private beach. As a local I can never quite justify staying here... but I love admiring the beautiful grounds as I walk along the Bay. I always see the most charming weddings, luaus and other events on the grass. It's the perfect size outdoor venue for a spring or summer event.
I'd stay here again if only for the secluded beach. But then again, the spa (where I got the most soothing massage of my life), the great food and the excellent service we got from its staff are already worth coming back to. The rooms are kinda small for my taste though, and the Internet connectivity could use an upgrade.
My mom and I came to the spa last week and we spent the whole day being pampered. I highly suggest their island stone massage, it was absolute heaven! And their seaweed body wrap was just what my achy muscles were in dire need of! The esthetician who did my facial was the sweetest woman ever and gave me the most helpful tips on skincare! Even though it was a rather pricey day, it was definitely well worth it!
