THE PERSUASIONS have been referred to as the “Kings of A Cappella” for half of a century. Since the early 1960's, they have gone on to tour the world, release 26 albums, and have opened for the likes of Frank Zappa, Ray Charles, Bill Cosby, and Richard Pryor.

All of the members of The Persuasions came from a strong background of gospel music. They have merged that influence with a dose of pop to create their signature sound. Their repertoire spans blues, gospel, rock, jazz, and more.

The group credits Frank Zappa for their discovery, and they released their debut album, A Cappella, on Zappa’s label in 1970. They eventually went on to sign with Capitol Records, and released a string of commercially successful and critically acclaimed albums. During the 1960's and 1970's, the group was one of the only secular, pop a cappella groups to gain popularity and recognition. They’ve recorded tribute albums consisting of material by the Grateful Dead, the Beatles, and U2.

Currently, the group consists of two original members, Joe Russell and Jimmy Hayes, as well as newer members Dave Revels, BJ Jones, and Ray Sanders.
