My Funny Valentines

Event Details:
Event Description:
Two hilarious comedians with ZERO relationship expertise- NONE, ZILCH, NADA; but that won’t stop them from expounding on the subject for this most special of days.

For the fourth year in a row, the relationship themed stand-up comedy show will return to the Carlsbad Village Theatre. Award winning funnyman and San Diego native, Lamont Ferguson will perform along with morning personality from 94.9’s The Mikey Show’s, Lauren O’Brien. Ferguson is a veteran comedian that began his comedy career at the age of 17 at the La Jolla Comedy Store. He has since gone onto become one of the more popular acts in North America. Having appeared on Comedy Central, Comics Unleashed but most impressively, he may be the only comic working today to be hand selected to be the opening act for these comedy legends: Bill Cosby, George Carlin, George Lopez, Steve Harvey, Garry Shandling and Richard Jeni.

Alongside his career achievements, the father of 3 children has had his experience with the ups and downs of relationships. Ferguson says, “This show is going to be a lot of fun.” “I don’t do any women bashing type of stuff; it’s my odd, non-expert insight into the workings of the mystery. The best compliment I’ve received on the show is from a woman that said, it’s a woman’s view on relationships as spoken by a man. I have no idea what that means, but I like it.”
O’Brien is a favorite on the local San Diego comedy scene. She appears regularly at the Comedy Store, The Comedy Palace and the Madhouse Comedy Club. Perhaps she is best known as one of the morning personalities (LOB) on The Mikey Show on 94.9. O’Brien happened upon her first comedy gig back in 2004 when she was in desperate need of money FAST. Answering a craigslist ad that read, "Get Paid to Have Fun" proved to be the first time that Lauren would actually enjoy going to work. She starred as the very respectable "Office Party Drunk" in an Internet campaign for the SD Union Tribune that quickly became a worldwide viral video. After reaching over 1 million views in a week, the video gained popularity on CNN and The Howard Stern Show. “This show is the perfect addition to a Valentine’s Day celebration. We had a blast last year! They’re always telling us that a sense of humor is one of the most important qualities to have in a successful relationship. I don’t know who they are but I’m pretty sure they’d say to come on out to the show!” says O’Brien
