Event Description:
JON ANDERSON is one of the most recognizable voices in progressive rock. Anderson is best known as the lead vocalist and creative driving force behind the band, Yes. He co-wrote several of the band’s greatest hits including, “Owner of a Lonely Heart”, “Roundabout”, and “I’ve Seen All Good People”.
Anderson got his start in 1962 with The Warriors where he and his brother both sang lead vocals. In 1967, he left the band and released two solo singles under the name Hans Christian Anderson. He went on to sing for two additional bands, The Gun and The Open Mind.
In 1968, Anderson went on to meet bassist Chris Squire and guitarist Peter Banks. The three formed Yes with drummer Bill Bruford and keyboardist Tony Kaye. In 1969, their debut album was released. Jon has been credited as a major creative force in the classic period of the band until his departure in 1980 due to a bitter dispute.
In 1983, Anderson rejoined a reformed Yes, and they produced their most commercially successful album, 90125. In 1988, he again departed the band. In 1989, Anderson and other former Yes members formed a new band, Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe (ABWH). The band later reunited with the other members of Yes, and the 8 piece band later assumed the name Yes, and released the 1991 album, Union. Anderson appears on every Yes album with the exception of their 1980 album, Drama.
Most recently, Anderson has been touring the USA and Europe. He released his latest album, Survival & Other Stories, on June 14, 2011 on Voiceprint Records.
