In 1989, Eugene, Oregon was a pretty great place to be. THE CHERRY POPPIN’ DADDIES had just been formed by Steve Perry and Dan Schmid. Their music is a mix of swing, ska, rockabilly, jazz, and rock. They have been known for their diverse, genre-spanning albums.

The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies were known for both their unique mix of musical styles as well as for their extravagant, provocative stage shows. While for a short period the band went under a few less controversial names (The Bad Daddies, The Daddies), once their career began to take shape, they went back to their original choice.

While the band had released three solo albums by 1996, The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies are most popular for their 1997 hit, “Zoot Suit Riot,” which brought the band into the mainstream. Over two million copies of the album were sold. Following their success, the band took a hiatus from 2000-2002, and then they resumed touring.

In 2008, they released their fifth studio album Susquehanna. The following year, they signed to Rock Ridge Music, and released their most recent album, Skaboy JFK. In the same year, the band was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.
