CHARLIE HUNTER has long been known for his mind-boggling guitar technique. The guitarist, composer, and bandleader plays custom-made seven and eight string guitars, and will play bass lines, rhythm guitar, and solos simultaneously.

Hunter spent his early years growing up in Berkeley, CA, where he took guitar lessons from Joe Satriani. He later began playing a seven-string guitar in The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, and in 1992, they were the opened act for U2.

In 1993, Hunter released his first self-titled solo record with The Charlie Hunter Trio, and has gone on to release seventeen albums since. He co-founded Garage A Trois with Stanton Moore and Skerik.

Throughout the mid 1990's, Hunter played with T.J. Kirk, who chose their name to reflect the material they exclusively played- Thelonious Monk, James Brown, and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. The group disbanded following their second release.

In 2007, Hunter toured with a trio that included Erik Deutsch and Simon Lott. They recorded the July 2007 Fantasy release Mistico. In 2008, Hunter recorded his first self-release, Baboon Strength.
