Contributor's Summary: Ah yes, the ever-complex endeavor of attempting to encapsulate all aspects of one’s life in a single paragraph… How about I just give you the Cliff’s Notes? I was born and raised a two-hours’ drive north in the City of Angels; residing specifically in “the Valley.” At the tender age of 18, I opted for greener pastures and ventured even farther north to attend college at UCSB. How I managed to be accepted into such a prestigious scholastic institution was (and still is) beyond me; however, a majority of the university’s eminence was certainly diminished by cheap beer and loose women — both of which were enjoyed at the expense of my studies. In spite of said distractions, I graduated in just a hair over 4 years with a BA in sociology and a minor in writing. After taking a month-long cross-country road trip (an experience I would insist anyone and everyone partake of at some juncture) with my roommates post-graduation, I remained in S.B. for three additional years, working odd jobs (including a brief stint as a private banking associate), playing drums in various local bands, and freelance writing for a number of publications. Following what I like to affectionately refer to as “the tailspin,” which included breakups with both my band and girlfriend at the time, and receiving the news that my job as “private banking associate” would be dissolved, along with the entire office; I wasted no time in packing up my life and belongings and headed south, giving S.B. the proverbial middle-finger salute as I drove off into the sunset. I spent my first year in San Diego (Mission Beach to be exact) receiving both severance and unemployment checks, and partying every penny away. At the end of those initial 12 months, I was jobless and in debt, but one would be hard-pressed to discern my financial status based upon the s%&t-eating grin plastered to my face. Fortunately, my subsequent job hunt was fruitful, and I landed a full-time editorial position with a publication based in San Clemente. Seeking to shorten my hour-long commute, I moved to Encinitas; living in and loving that town for three-plus years. Whilst residing in North County, my best friend and photography business partner, Devin Kiyoshi White, informed me of a craigslist ad seeking “nightlife photographers.” Having been an amateur photog. for a few years, I thought, “What the hell…” Turns out, the company looking for shooters happened to be discoversd.com, and… well, as the adage goes, the rest is history. I’ve been with the company in some capacity since their inception in 2006; shooting photo galleries on a weekendly basis and providing prose (specifically musical musings) as website content. That said, should you have any comments, critiques, constructive criticisms or, dare I say, compliments pertaining to any of my contributions (wow, that was a gross overuse of alliteration, even for me), speak up. And if you see me out and about, camera in hand… I prefer scotch.
