| | Really pretty LAME! The surroundings are nice enough, but unfortunately the hype doesn't match the essence. With huge lines promoting a feeling of exclusivitely, that is quickly proven wrong once you get inside. A normal bar crowd of twenty and thirty-somethings all seeming to pretend they're far more important than they really are. Security acts as if you're going to see the president. For all the hype, I kept wondering when I was going to understand why. I never did. The music was great, but people are more concerned with being "seen" than dancing, so it seems utterly wasted. In the ultra lounge people gather attempting to look "cool" enough to be photographed by one of the roaming photographers that seem more like court jesters, in hopes to be posted on the website I suppose. Drinks are overpriced and under poured...and that's if you can get one of the very rude bartenders to serve you. Overall, the ultra lounge and club at Ivy are an unsuccessful attempt at a Vegas style club. Alot of pretention, but no real substance. It was bad enough that valet was $30.00...I'm just glad that I was on the VIP and didn't have to wait in line or pay to get into such a disappointment. |
