From the heated sand floor to the fire pits and private cabanas, all intermixed with the sparkling sights of Downtown, The W has created the possibility for Gaslamp and beach lovers to have their cake and eat it too. Though the drink prices conform to downtown standards, one would definitely be missing the entire experience without once trying the Citron my Face or A Day at the Beach while shimmying to the tunes of DJ Frankie on Fridays or DJ Chino on Saturdays...

Like human jukeboxes, there probably isn't a song out there that Shout House performers don't know. You won't be able to resist singing and dancing when you've got a cocktail in hand during a live dueling piano performance of "Miss You" by The Rolling Stones or Tom Petty's "Mary Jane." Nope, not even that your buddy of yours from back East...

With the original "Air Conditioned" sign hanging above the door of a derelict building, the Air Condition Lounge, at first glance, blends right in with its surroundings. But on further investigation, entering the AC Lounge is like stepping into the twilight zone, transporting you back to the 1970s...

But if you want to step out of the limelight for a moment the Red C Lounge, marked by a small doorway along Fifth, is a great little "underground" spot...

It would be easy to miss this unassuming North Park lounge—if it weren’t for the crowds that gather in manic lines at the door each week. With no bars on either side and a small, glowing sign above the entrance printed with only the words “Air Conditioned,” this crowd pleaser is not the kind of place you end up unless you’ve heard of it. . .

Before there was Tower23 in Pacific Beach, there was Isola lounge. Though still underrated on the Richter Scale, Isola is a inspirational variation on other bars in the beach district. It’s the kind of place where tank tops merge with spangly halters, white sundresses juxtapose with jeans, and heels move in step with flip flops. There’s no need to get overly dressed up when you visit Isola, but if you want to, you’ll fit right in.
