You don’t need to be a grade school student on a field trip to appreciate the Museum of Man’s rich array of cultural artifacts. Housed in San Diego’s most recognizable landmark building, it opened in 1915 to serve as the region’s primary anthropological museum.
The Museum of Man’s permanent displays offer revealing glimpses into the lives of ancient Egyptians, the Maya, and the native Californian Kumeyaay. In the West Wing, explore four million years of human evolution in the interactive exhibit “Footsteps through Time,” which covers 7,000 square feet with over 100 touchable replicas of early humans, primates, and futuristic cyborgs. The museum also presents the lively Tower After Hours event each month.
