Listing Details: Vincenzo became a barber at the age of 16. He opened Vince’s Barber Shop on India Street in 1952 and has been a legend in Little Italy for more than 50 years. He was active in the Italian American Community and was well know by many friends, tenants, customers and acquaintances. Vincenzo left Sicily and came to the U.S. in 1950 to explore the land of opportunity. When he got here he immediately began to purchase real estate in Little Italy. Also, in the 60’s he opened the Venetian Italian Restaurant in Point Loma on Canon Street. Vincenzo took much pleasure in being a barber. In addition to getting a great haircut, Vince’s Barber Shop was one of the many meeting points in Little Italy, it was a place to hang out and enjoy the company of his many friends or “paisani.” Vincenzo is a legend in the Italian-American community, and this legend is evident through Vince’s Barber Shop.
