Editorial Review of
San Diego Air and Space Museum
Like the mythical Phoenix rising from the ashes, the San Diego Air and Space Museum (formerly Aerospace Museum) overcame an arson fire that destroyed its entire collection in 1978. Now it populates the spacious Ford Building in Balboa Park with more than 70 replicas, restorations, and models of original aircraft. Exhibits also include a rotating schedule of ongoing events, sure to entertain children and adults of all ages. The San Diego Air and Space Museum also houses a 3d/4d Zabe theatre, the first of it?s kind in Balboa Park, making it easy for everyone to get up close and personal with the subject at hand. The museum, which traces the history of flight all the way from the sands of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, to current ventures into outer space, presents the world?s only International Aerospace Hall of Fame, which honors the accomplishments of Lindbergh, Earhart, and Armstrong, among others. Visitors can also fly an F-22 Raptor in the museum?s flight-simulator ride, letting everyone in on a little piece of the action. Museum prices are incredibly reasonable, considering the sheer amount of content presented to visitors, and children under five years old are able to enter without charge. The San Diego Air and Space Museum is a perfect location to spend a Father and Son bonding day or even a whole day out with the entire family. Online exhibits are also hosted on the museums main website, allowing visitors to get a sneak peek at all of the aviary fun.
